Daylight is falling
Theres a chill in the air
The moon, she is rising
and lights up a stare;
A creature is spreading
its wings to appear
shaking out dust
from the sleep of the day,
Arising of full glory
a king of the high way

Cautious, he steps
from his perch on a tree
surveying the scene
he full swoops fearlessly
Gliding, he heads
for the light of the lake
A glistening gem
In the moonlight’s full wake.

Fly bird, with all your will
Up in the skies
Right over the hill
Dip and dive
and tumble and weave
Its just the moonlight
you and the breeze.

Now to the city
where the light’s full bright
People dancing
through the night
Look to the sky
where the nightly bird
passes on by
right round the world

Who has ever
seen such grace
heard such a cry,
seen such a chase?
Watch out you there
down below
who knows where
he might choose to go

Imagine all that he has seen
of open land
and wide blue sea
Of sun-soaked valleys
decked in green
and mountain lakes
so high and clean

Fly bird with all your will
up in the skies
right over the hill
dip and dive
and tumble and weave
It’s just the moonlight

Now to the city
and the lights full bright.
People dancing
through the night
look to the sky
where this nightly bird
Passes on
Right round the world

Daylight is rising
he looks to the east
Heads back for home
Full from the feast
Lay down those feathers
curl up those feet.
Your work now is done
You can go to sleep!

What can I say? I want to be loved yes its true

To be denied love for so long can I still love too?

If I reach for the stars Would I grasp only air?

Where are you my friend? It’s your love that I miss

I ramble away in the night,

If you saw me now you would have a fright

Don’t listen to me when I say it’s all good

But deep down inside I scream”tell her how you feel you fool”

Abandonment  is all I’ve had

No loving arm to save me,

I dared to dream again

Silly me to expect love and hold onto a love so true,

Maybe it’s up to the saints to decide my fate

Will they do the right thing or will they listen to yoou?

But I say”come and judge  your forsaken son and take me away,

But know this I am tired and want to sleep

The chemicals that share my mind,

The pride I once had,

All gone I fear, but all I want is you

Why did I think it would be different?

I am here and yoou are not,

Alone again in self belief

That one day I will catch your eye,

To lye next to you would be my greatest prize

Can I not stray from this life so confined?

The feeling of self worth seeping out of my darkened eyes,

Was I really that bad to be left alone?

When I open  my door, not a sound I hear,

And you don’t call out my name anymore

But wherever you are, and whoever you are with

I hope they take care of you, like I always did

IT’S ALWAYS BEEN THERE JUST WAITING FOR YOU

JUST WALK AROUND IT THATS ALL YOU DO

ON TURNING THE CORNER YOU’LL PROBABLY FIND

ALL OF YOUR TROUBLES ARE NOW LEFT BEHIND

THEY DON’T SEEM TO BOTHER NOT ANY LONGER

IN FACT YOUR RESOLVE GROWS STRONGER AND STRONGER

BUT WHERE IS THAT CORNER I’D LIKE TO KNOW

THOSE THAT HAVE TURNED IT DON’T WANT TO SHOW

IT’S LIKE A DARK SECRET KEPT WELL AWAY

FROM ALL THOSE WHO NEED IT,EACH MINUTE,EACH DAY

FOR THOUSANDS ARE SEARCHING IN ANGUISHED BELIEF

THAT ONCE THEY HAVE TURNED IT THEY SUFFER RELIEF

BUT THE CORNER STAYS HIDDEN AWAY FROM THEIR SIGHT

AS IF IT’S NOCTURNAL AND DOESN’T LIKE LIGHT

You’ll make him shout and scream and fuss

And you will cry
And I will stare
And hate to see you in despair

And in a day
You’ll say you’re fine
And hide behind well rehearsed lines

You know that I can’t understand
Why you will sit
Beneath his hand

‘Cause you are scared to be alone
You sit and cry
And mope at home

You’re scared to venture out at night
In case he has some fabled fright

I’ll never fully understand
How you can sit and love the man

Like the laughter of a mountain stream,

Like the wind’s songs  through  fair evergreens,

Like the ocean’s caress,

Wonderfully serene….

So, my love,  is your voice to me.

Whether found in banter’s, levity or

Lost in passion’s deepest growls,

It embraces and carries my senses in tow,

to places where love in friendship grow.

In  the molten embraces of passions free,

The years deliver as well as receive,

Tears and laughter from our Soul’s core drawn.

But there is no  dread,  of sunset

on a heart’s true dawn.

For Warmth and light are both arms of a friendship true,

That continues to hold past terrestrial seasons

And  at the last triumphs against

This world’s silencing adieu.

So let us share your voice

and let it join in the song meeting you has birthed

in friendship’s bosom.

knowing that on this fertile soil

have been sown a symphony of sonnets,

that will yet yield a joyous harvest of tender loves.

Reaching Out… Reaching Nowhere

Getting soaked to the skin,

But so sere is the desert inside

No rain touches my parched throat

No words emerge

To speak, to shout, to let anyone know

If it burns me up, if I’m so hollow

Vibrating in tune to the falling hail -

Hard, so cold, and yet

Softer, warmer than the desert in me

Sparks in the sky, the ceaseless rumble

Can’t light up the harsh darkness,

Can’t drown out the empty noise

Can’t hide with those dark clouds

The soldier stood and faced his God

Which must always come to pass

He hoped his shoes were shining

Just as brightly as his brass

“Step forward now you soldier

How shall I deal with you?”

“Have you always turned the other cheek?

And to me have you been true?”

The soldier squaring his shoulders said

No God I guess I ain’t

Because those of us who carry guns

Can’t always be a saint

I’ve had to work most Sundays

And at times my talk was tough

And sometimes I’ve been violent

Because the world is awful rough

But I never took a penny

That wasn’t mine to keep

Though at times I shook with fear

And sometimes God forgive me

I’ve wept unmanly tears

I know I don’t deserve a place

Among the people here

They never wanted me around

Except to calm their fears

If you’ve a place for me Lord

It need’nt be so grand

I never expected or had too much

So, If you don’t I’ll understand

There was silence all around the throne

Where the saints had often trod

As the soldier waited quietly

For judgment of his God

“Step forward now you soldier

You’ve borne your burdens well

Walk peacefully on Heaven’s streets

You’ve done your time in Hell”.
